HYDE PARK--As part of its mission to encourage attractive design for residential and commercial properties in Hyde Park, every other year the town's Visual Environment Committee honors owners who have beautified their properties during the previous year. This year's awards will be presented in the categories of Business, Residential, Institution, Landscaping, Stone Walls, Signs, and--new this year--"Going Green."
The awards presentation will take place Thursday, Jan. 27, at The Henry A. Wallace Visitor Center at the FDR Presidential Library, Route 9, Hyde Park. This is a public event with a reception with refreshments starting at 6:30 p.m. and awards presentation beginning at 7 p.m.
The Hyde Park Visual Environment Committee is a non-profit member-supported organization dedicated to fostering the enhancement and preservation of residential, commercial and public sites in Hyde
Park. In addition to the beautification awards, the committee's projects include stone wall restoration, planting of roadside gardens and spring daffodils, as well as the Hyde Park in Bloom garden tour every other June and the Home for the Holidays house tour in December.
