About five years ago, model Lauren Bush designed a bag for the United Nation's World Food Program's School Feeding operations. Bush, who had worked closely with the UN's World Food Program (WFP), was inspired by the WFP's bags used to distribute food to the children, which led her to team up with the World Food Program's Communications Officer, Ellen Gustafson to found FEED Projects, LLC. The organization's first FEED 1 tote bags were sold in April 2007. The symbolism? The profit from the sale of each bag feeds one child in school for one year. In addition to humanitarian efforts, FEED 1 tote bags also make an environmental impact. The bags are made from sustainable materials and are meant to replace plastic and disposable bags.
